Car Chronicles: Part 3: Parking and First PMS

Image
It has been 2 months and a few weeks of owning CC. As of writing I've been on so many weekends of training and practicing with Reagan. This also marks the 2nd day of me driving CC around on my own to and from my place to EDSA Shang and Megamall respectively and I feel like even though I still have the jitters on the road, I think I'm getting the hang of it. Mostly. But I'm getting way ahead! Let's rewind for a bit. + My obsession with 45 Degree Reverse Parking +  One of the things that made me obsessed those weeks of training was not with driving but with parking. In my head it's obviously a big problem because unlike when I used to live at our house in Cavite, which has an ample space to just park to (it's just in front of the house) it's imperative that I know how to properly park with only a 45 degree reverse parking because of the limited area I have in our condo building. In accepting CC, I actually got a parking in haste, I found the cheapest one who c...

Car Chronicles Part 2

Because I have a Part 2, it just means that my loan application has been approved yay! No need to do an in house financing! + What a busy day + I've waited until the 3rd day to inquire if I was approved. I don't know if me asking how's the status or it just happened at the same time, but I've received an email which was also dated the day before. For now my bank is ready to release a PO (is this purchase order? I forgot to ask, but that is what they call it) to the dealer. But there's a problem. Toyota Shaw had just released their last white stock a few days prior. I've missed my chance. Agent is offering me a different model to which at that time wasn't a viable idea for me because if that's the case then might as well get a 1.3 Vios right? So what happened was the banker gave me an idea. She started asking for other dealers. From what I learned it is truly a good idea to talk to a banker first because they might have good contacts. I was able to contac...

Car Chronicles Part 1

Being so near the office made it useless for me to own a car. I can either use the bus or MRT or a 30min. walk, which I am honestly OK with. But COVID made me anxious on taking public vehicles which made my mobility extremely hindered. Reagan do have a car but I thought maybe it's time for me to (truly) learn a new skill, and be able to drive without a guide. After all I have extra money to spare to afford a monthly amortization. I hope it won't take long though.  + Why I ended up with a Toyota Wigo TRD S + I was truly eyeing for a subcompact, especially KIA Stonic, which was just recently released. They even have a promo! Reagan was against this as I have not driven a car for a long time and I might have a problem in parking a large car.  I then made my sights to Kia Soluto, which for me was the better option vs. Reina and Brio due to the stuff it has on. We began researching it and talking about it for a few days until one night Reagan said something foreshadowing on how I m...

Gadget Review: Lenovo Ideapad Flex 5 14IIL05

My laptop  had recently decided to not turn on anymore and I'm panicking over my tax filing by November. It took a month for the service center to tell me what's wrong and just learned a few days ago that it would be another month more for the parts to be delivered from Taiwan to repair my machine. (Sigh) I did not expect to buy a new machine this year (after all of my Lazada/Shoppee purchases) but I thought it would be best to just do it now to get it over with. I've been obsessing with it too, other than my lame attempts to make it work with my other laptop that has been with me for more than 10 years I think. It had ton of issues, still boots though but I can't really make the BIR form to work. It's a hassle to use as well. So anyways, off to a new one, and my first sign came when I found a model that covers everything on my list. It's also on a limited promo period this month so my excitement to grab the opportunity was really high. After using ASUS twice, I...

Finance Corner: GCASH

Image
I have been a supporter of GCASH for the longest time. It was so far ago in fact that back then they didn't even require KYC not until it was mandated by the government. It's highly suggested to do it too to maximize all of the benefits. Just make sure that you only transact on the app and not on the bogus Messenger accounts that requests for your details.   More than another payment app, GCASH has evolved so much that it has become an excellent all around finance app I reckon this could be an effective all around tool to teach the common Filipino some finance literacy with no need for too many requirements nor ever leaving your home. Without further ado here are the features of GCASH that make it to my highly recommended list. Login and Security While banks are not new to the country, apps are. I am not naming banks but there are still a handful commercial banks that do not even have the basic features of login GCASH have. It auto refreshes the app after some days to revalida...

Covid 19, Quarantine and all that sh*t

Image
I dedicate this post to my new found love, Ligo Tuna Flakes in Sunflower Oil (Hot and Spicy). If it weren't for COVID and Century Tuna has flown off shelves for weeks, I wouldn't have found you. You alone made me ruin my promise not to eat too much rice. (This is not an advert) As of writing I have been in semi-isolation for 5 months. Semi, because I still have human contact whenever I do grocery runs, the random Shoppee / Lazada delivery guy, the condo guards  to name a few. But yes, none of them I know personally. I have not seen my family nor my boyfriend, my officemates and none of my friends. It has not been extremely bad, but I admit at some point I cried my eyes out because I feel so lonely.  The first days/weeks of quarantine was just OK, except for the times I have to do grocery runs. I just had 3 of them where I had to haul so much stuff back to the condo on my trolly. One of them involved me and a bagger to walk all the way from Rustan's Shang to my place with a ...

Japan 2020 (Part 7)

I don't know why I have gotten it wrong. We're supposed to be going to the reclining Buddha (Nanzoin Temple) and have instead gone to a different place, Dazaifu Tenmangu. I really thought it was the same place. We didn't get to explore the entire area though because of reasons I forgot but maybe because it would make us do bus trips around. We can't walk because of intermittent rain, I mean, getting sick around this time is unacceptable. But even if the trip was a bit short, it's fine for me. It was after all free! + Dazaifu Tenmangu + It's very easy to reach because it's next to the train station.  This place reminded me a lot of the same layout as Sensoji Temple at Asakusa but larger and spacious in between stalls. You can take time and try different types of food and spend your remaining yen for more souvenirs.  The grounds is huge and have tons of places to see. Since it's a park, you can just enjoy long strolls with your date underneath the plum tre...
