Papa (5.8.1958-10.1.2016)

Image
It was a Friday. It was supposed to be like my everydays of sitting at the couch, playing mobile games, watching series on tv. But before I was even home I received a call from the hospital where my father works. It wasn't really a distress call so my sisters and I weren't too alarmed. Being the irresponsible eldest I don't really know how to commute there because our Father always brought me there. My sisters and I planned to wait for each other at the condo but the next call was so alarming that I immediately thrown stuff things at my bag of what I might need and went out as fast as I can, tears already rolling down my face in stress. I was muttering to myself that everything will be alright. And as if the universe have carefully timed that Friday, my sisters and I all converged at MoA almost at the same time, fetched by his co workers with our Papa's car. I don't have much experience in hospitals since we rarely have anything to do there anyway, but my worry wasn...

On the News: The Missing Plane

Image
Everyone has their own theory on what happened to the still missing plane. I remembered noticing it on the news ticker while I was surfing for a channel to watch and I was extremely curious on that particular news I started looking for a channel that was currently reporting it. Finding none, I shrugged it off and forgot about it. It's already Tuesday and shockingly it's not yet found. I won't be a hypocrite and be overly emotional about this (for one, I don't have a special relationship to anyone on board for me to be overly attached) but I suddenly become scared at one of the sites an officemate of mine told me to read. http://naturalguru.co/six-important-facts-youre-told-lost-malaysia-airlines-flight-370/  * (*which I think was copied elsewhere as well.  you decide :-)) He (or she?) has laid out points on why theories hounding web space can be debunked (so easily may I add) to the point of making me get goosebumps. We've probably heard of someone some...

Thoughts on our Valentine's Date

Image
Have I just posted a Rom-Com at my blog?!!! What am I thinking!! Whenever people ask who came up with the idea of watching Starting Over Again this Valentine's I point to my boyfriend. I don't watch Romance movies too often, let alone a local one. Maybe that's the reason why he invited me in the first place for a change. Prior to this though a good friend of mine kept on making me watch Pinoy Romantic movies on every opportunity she gets. She was successful in about 3 of them I think. My sisters also insisted in us seeing Bride for Rent which was just OK. It was a weird experience seeing it in the movie house. It was a rom-com but the only times I laughed (twice I think) were the only times no one did. I don't know what to make out of it. It's either there is something wrong with me or them. So anyway, we watched Starting Over Again and it had a lovely ending-- SPOILER ALERT -- They didn't end up with each other. Now before you react violently ...

TIB: Kris Aquino for Governor (?)

Image
Wait what? That was probably the hardest line I've ever typed today. Kris Aquino for Tarlac Governor. Wait, I need water. Okay, here it goes. First of, I'm not from Tarlac so I couldn't care less, I mean, Cavite's my hometown for a long time already (though I rarely visit anymore) and (whispers) there's a lot of things needed to be fixed there too, but you know those big fires that started from a single candle light, a small firecracker, or, or!! A cigarette butt that more often than not, cause headline type of fires? Yeah. That's the best metaphor I can come up with. And I don't know about you but it's really scary. Philippine politics has been the longest soap opera we've been forced to deal with for our entire lives and here's a new cast who will totally be the icing of the cake, like in a bad way. I'm trying to be rational about this, like well, let's just try to forget the scandals for a moment here. Nope. Not possib...

Don't you just hate summer?

Image
While most women take this as an opportunity to show skin to the point that they'd crash diet and go the gym to lose their holiday bellies, I'm cursing the summer to just go away. It's not that I'm bitter on how I could not wear a two piece to save my life, but I seriously hate this season. It's a combination of two things I hate: blistering heat and waterpools. Every morning when I go to work, I have atleast 10 mins total of walking. Some of it requires me to be out in the open that I require an umbrella. And since it's part of my daily routine that I could not remove, I am forced to dive in on the heat of the sun who mocks me by doubling it's power when I'm out. And whenever I reach office I am at my lowest, like as if a sunshiney version of a Dementor kissed me. And then there's pool season again. Borrowing a line from a friend of mine, "my skin has not touched chlorine " (or salt water) for a long, long time. I agree with ...

Eco Bags Frenzy

Image
I have a confession to make. My only vices are over purchasing books and bags. I don't smoke, I don't gamble, I rarely even drink alcohol. But I'm ashamed to admit, that I, a sane individual, has succombed to a vice that has gone out of control. Hoarding Eco Bags. I rarely took notice of eco bags the first time it went out but slowly, and more than ever, will you find that most stores nowadays have eco bags, taunting me to give in. From SM, to Purple Oven, to Japanese Daiso shops. Yes, I have it all and more. I have all sorts of eco bags from SM which releases designs as much as they go on a sale. I rarely go shopping but when I do, rest assured that whenever they offer an eco bag, I'm so buying it. Mercury Drug? Are you kidding me? I'm buying 5 tablets of Vitamin E and that bag is mine even if it costs more than what I went there for. My latest addition would be Mom's Ensaymadas, who the sales lady, as much as she's trying to convince me to buy th...

Love.Love.Love.

Image
With two timers prevalent nowadays, finding a couple who have stayed strong for all the right reasons are a rarity. Even movies kind of encourage this behaviour. The first time I saw this photo* I kind of choked. And who wouldn't? It's amazing to see this kind of happiness captured on film. And you know what? This kind of love is one I hope for and completely understand. *Disclaimer: Photo is not mine.

Moving Sites Update

Image
So... I'm done importing/exporting blogs from my other three. But there's one huge problem... and that is moving links on posts as well!! Too.much.effort. Seems like I cannot simply delete my old ones:  contentsofmystomach.blogspot.com atatlumakbay.blogspot.com timespaceapp.blogspot.com

Closing Other Blogs

So I have now decided to close down the other 3 blogs that I have and have them all in this one blog. Why you say? Well I figured that although having them segregated into different blogs is nice since they're all in one 'folder' it is just stressful going to and fro different blogs at a time. I also think that piling up all the blogs together can add their stats together. Plus, it won't clutter if I only use the right tags :-D This is also in line with uploading my old stuff from multiply and be transferred here since they have removed the social media part there so they can focus their resources to being a marketplace. Thanks Ed for giving me the idea! I'm about to try it now :-D

Do you think I'm pretty? (9.11.9)

Image
Weeks ago, while watching a show for stand-up comedians, there was this fat contestant, (notice I said she was fat, for you to get the point) that she said that in summer time she usually just hides in her house, away from the beach where skinny girls in their skimpy outfits are aplenty. But when it gets cold that is when she goes boy-hunting because ‘those skinny girls would eventually have to wear something’. She also added, ‘what would they do then, talk?’ then everyone laughs. It’s a lot more like a blonde joke, but what she just said encompasses everyone especially those who don’t see that funny because they are the epitome of it. Face it. Rare is it would you find anyone who is basically good looking and brainy at the same time. Usually it’s just one of those. There are, however, a lot of trying hard-to-be-smart types who doesn’t seem to realize they are only making a fun of themselves when they open their mouth and it’s not even close to funny. Forgive me for bringing...

Accidents, Fatigue and the 9pm Routine (5.10.9 - 5.15.9)

I haven't written a week-long blog for a long time due to my endless time management problems. But this week had so much to be written I have to have a blog for it. I even finished this one before the shopping blog because I really can't contain what happen on this day (today's Thursday, 5.14) Wardrobe Malfunction ? --------------------------------------------- Tuesday I was late for office. And because I was racing for time, I wore the very first things I could get my hands on - a lacey spaghetti-strapped blouse underneath another white blouse. I have unbuttoned two at the top because it just won't properly close  on the chest area. It showed cleavage but as much as I've seen it on the mirror it looked ok, like it wasn't really that 'out' so I just went out with it. In the office none of my male officemates reacted so I thought it was ok. Later on, Boss Mil went to our place and saw my outfit and said my 'bra' is peeping. I said it wasn'...

Darwin, Accident & Others That Happened This Week

Darwin--------------------------------- I know it's too late of a blog, as NGC said, in celebration of Darwin's work blah blah blah, I decided I should write on something about him as well. It is his 200th year anniversary after all (which was last Feb). I've already read what Time has to say about it, watched an episode in NGC but didn't finished it (why do they have to schedule it on a freaking Sunday night?! I have to go to work early the next day you know?!), and now it's my turn to have a say, someone of my age, of how I think I should react on it and what I thought afterwards. When I was in highschool, I had a teacher who truly believes in Darwin's Theory of Evolution whilst I was having problems on how would I ever accept it when for my entire life I've been going to church and this was 'blasphemous'. I even recall early this year our preacher was talking endlessly bashing Darwin with all his might, yet here I am, at peace with what I...

Romantic-Free Valentine's (2.14.09)

Image
I wasn't happy with the results of the first time I wrote this blog, so here I am, rewriting. I have all the time tonight (Sunday, Feb 15) to write this anyway so here I am, doing it. I never had romantic dates on the 14th of February, just group dates, and group get togethers but never a passe, watch-a-movie-dinner-with flowers type of a date. Guess I didn't have any boyfriend who would take me out at such time since for most, either I just broke up with one before Feb or just earned one (a bf) months later. But I didn't have too many relationships in the past to even think it would even be possible. Days prior my cousin was inviting us to go to MOA to watch Lova-Palooza but besides the fact that who in the world who is single would like to watch hundreds of couples kissing   whilst I don't have anyone to smooch with, I have set most of the income I've generated for the cutoff to my financial obligations, most of them to my sister's. I just said we...
