Gadget Review: Lenovo Ideapad Flex 5 14IIL05

My laptop  had recently decided to not turn on anymore and I'm panicking over my tax filing by November. It took a month for the service center to tell me what's wrong and just learned a few days ago that it would be another month more for the parts to be delivered from Taiwan to repair my machine. (Sigh) I did not expect to buy a new machine this year (after all of my Lazada/Shoppee purchases) but I thought it would be best to just do it now to get it over with. I've been obsessing with it too, other than my lame attempts to make it work with my other laptop that has been with me for more than 10 years I think. It had ton of issues, still boots though but I can't really make the BIR form to work. It's a hassle to use as well. So anyways, off to a new one, and my first sign came when I found a model that covers everything on my list. It's also on a limited promo period this month so my excitement to grab the opportunity was really high. After using ASUS twice, I

Finance Corner: GCASH

Image
I have been a supporter of GCASH for the longest time. It was so far ago in fact that back then they didn't even require KYC not until it was mandated by the government. It's highly suggested to do it too to maximize all of the benefits. Just make sure that you only transact on the app and not on the bogus Messenger accounts that requests for your details.   More than another payment app, GCASH has evolved so much that it has become an excellent all around finance app I reckon this could be an effective all around tool to teach the common Filipino some finance literacy with no need for too many requirements nor ever leaving your home. Without further ado here are the features of GCASH that make it to my highly recommended list. Login and Security While banks are not new to the country, apps are. I am not naming banks but there are still a handful commercial banks that do not even have the basic features of login GCASH have. It auto refreshes the app after some days to revalidat

Covid 19, Quarantine and all that sh*t

I dedicate this post to my new found love, Ligo Tuna Flakes in Sunflower Oil (Hot and Spicy). If it weren't for COVID and Century Tuna has flown off shelves for weeks, I wouldn't have found you. You alone made me ruin my promise not to eat too much rice. (This is not an advert) As of writing I have been in semi-isolation for 5 months. Semi, because I still have human contact whenever I do grocery runs, the random Shoppee / Lazada delivery guy, the condo guards  to name a few. But yes, none of them I know personally. I have not seen my family nor my boyfriend, my officemates and none of my friends. It has not been extremely bad, but I admit at some point I cried my eyes out because I feel so lonely.  The first days/weeks of quarantine was just OK, except for the times I have to do grocery runs. I just had 3 of them where I had to haul so much stuff back to the condo on my trolly. One of them involved me and a bagger to walk all the way from Rustan's Shang to my place with a

I don't know why I have gotten it wrong. We're supposed to be going to the reclining Buddha (Nanzoin Temple) and have instead gone to a different place, Dazaifu Tenmangu. I really thought it was the same place. We didn't get to explore the entire area though because of reasons I forgot but maybe because it would make us do bus trips around. We can't walk because of intermittent rain, I mean, getting sick around this time is unacceptable. But even if the trip was a bit short, it's fine for me. It was after all free! + Dazaifu Tenmangu + It's very easy to reach because it's next to the train station.  This place reminded me a lot of the same layout as Sensoji Temple at Asakusa but larger and spacious in between stalls. You can take time and try different types of food and spend your remaining yen for more souvenirs.  The grounds is huge and have tons of places to see. Since it's a park, you can just enjoy long strolls with your date underneath the plum tre

Let's face it. Fukuoka has something to offer, but not as much as the rest of more popular destinations like Tokyo or Osaka. Which is why the next day we had to take a long train ride OUT of Fukuoka and to Oita prefecture, the land of hot springs.   + Hells of Beppu + From the train station we looked (as advised by the information) for the tourist center. We made it there around lunch time already, not enough to visit all 7 Hells. There's 2 more that we missed which were out of the way of the first 5 which are within walking distance. So even still we got the pass which will allow us to enter all of them just by showing it instead of paying each entrance.   We were dropped off by the bus on a highway it seems and we have no idea where to go first. I think we spent some time deciding where we're going until we just tried going to anything that looks like an entrance. Be aware that there are a lot of resorts nearby and not all of them is susceptible to the voucher. They will
