Shorties: My doctor's diagnosis

Image
So last last week, I had two separate days of meeting two doctors because of my ailment. My first checkup I was given a new set of vitamin b complex and e because she can't find anything wrong with me. I was complaining about my neck and I was worried that I'm already suffering from highblood. She checked my BP and it came out 100/70 so my fear is far from what she's seeing. She told me too to lower my head during sleeping. Which I did but somehow, it made me more prone to more serious issues. The next few days I felt like dying literally because my days are peppered with dizzyness, shortness of breath and constant headache. I should also mention that my neck doesn't hurt anymore but my left shoulders are. I fear that this might be aneurysm so I decided to be checked once more. Fearing the worst, Ai told the doctor everythng but my bp is still normal, so as my lungs. He told me that based on my narrations, I am most likely to have asthenia. It's a curious thing, thi...

Shorties: Don't Judge a Headband by It's Cover

Image
Last week my face was so itchy all over. It's so frustrating not knowing what's the culprit, be it my bb cream, or the vitamins I take, even my shampoo. So what I did was I searched for a large cloth band that can pull my hair all the way back (fringe and all) without that constant push of plastic near my ears. It was pretty successful ( I love my look, I look so urban) so I kept on wearing it for a few days until my face stopped being itchy and scaly.  One time, I was on a queue waiting for my turn to pay and order for a sandwich at the office cafeteria. The foreigner before me was saying something and since i'm half deaf, it took a while before I realized what he was saying: "Do you like reggae music?' So I answered him as honest as I can saying it's all for convenience. He looked disappointed though. Maybe he has a followup question. I imagined to have said yes but it would put me in a much more embarassing situation when the only reggae singer I kno...

Shorties: The writing dryspell might be over soon (hopefully)

Image
Just when my year is fully packed with activities and things to write, I was ironically gifted with too much work that all the rest of the hobbies I'm trying to keep is an impossibility. I work around 11 hours in a day, commute for more than 4 hours next thing I know, I'm in bed surfing the web to bring my sanity back. I just don't have the energy left to focus on anything. I can't even study for my Japanese classes It's not even funny anymore. Obviously I want to excel but this work, as much as I love it, is literally killing my extracurricular activities. Anyway, we have just deployed today so by next week, if I'm as lucky as I think I am, or even remotely a good programmer there should be just a few issues. It is by far the biggest project I have handled in my career so it's a big deal that it has to work. Hopefully, i canget backto blogging!!

Shorties: Chickens (12.21.11)

Image
The first thing I do whenever I walk out of the house is to look at the sky. No it's not to know if the sky has already fallen so I'd have a good excuse to bail out in the office but it's my gauge how late it was. Today it was blue. Instinct tells me that for as long as there's not much heavy traffic, I can still arrive before 9. So there I was opening the gate, getting out, then closing it again. When I turned around my morning nemesis was there, staring. It's the neighbors' chicken. One of my other habits and a good way to start the day is to chase half heartedly the neighbor's chicken, that is if he's around. It's fun, no one hasn't scolded me yet and we both get a minute of exercise. They usually fly in panic anyway so I won't be bothered accidentally kicking it.  I'm not sure how he came to be in a subdivision property but I guess not owning too many it can pass off as a pet. And since he's allowed to roam I ki...

Shorties: SONA (take two)

Shorties: HP7 Goodbye Part 2

Image
It’s been weeks (July 15, 2011) since I’ve seen the last movie (and years since I’ve finished the book; and yes, I”ve cried too) and I still can’t come up with my own goodbye part 2. I have too many draft entries but nothing I can come up with that would make a very nice tribute and you could say I gave up. But I guess this is my subconscious saying I shouldn’t allow myself to let go of the HP universe until I grow old. So I’ve decided I won’t say goodbye at all. Not now.   I’ve left this unopened since I’ve read most of the books when I was in college and was still a regular reader at PB Greenbelt. Deathly hallows was bought on the day of the release but the compilation wasn’t ready yet so I decided to buy the last one first (since I can’t bear anyone knowing the end before me haha) before I finally bought the entire collection. Shorties: Bye Holiday Economics!

Image
This was taken last year December. Weird huh? I really don’t get why today isn’t a declared holiday.   I would have understood this if it weren’t for next week’s   declared holiday (Rizal) but it wasn’t. Why? Back when it was still Arroyo’s administration we are so used to having holidays declared on the next succeeding Monday. Most of us would see this as a bad thing, especially if you’re a contractual, or paid on per hour basis. It also hurts the paycheck of contractuals and confuses students on which dates holidays are supposed to be. It was proclaimed as Holiday Economics. 1.         Longer weekends means longer vacations. And that would always translate to money. It could be abroad but most of us would just opt for local trips. For instance, I was planning to go out of town with my family this weekend but I can’t since like I’M THE ONLY ONE ON A HOLIDAY*. And what’s good with this is that, it prolongs the money days of these local sites ...

Shorties: Friendster’s move

Image
Friendster Hearing the news of the wipe out was not a surprise. Obviously the company who acquired the site has to move now and do something since obviously the hottest place to be has got to be is now, Facebook. (Almost) Every individual are now on the massive site, even promotions and companies and tv shows. Seeing this wave of people caught the attention of sites and now they’ve added an FB link for easier reposting. Furthermore, billboards and flyers have that icon now too, reinforcing the ‘need’ to join the site. I have always said before how Facebook has become Friendster X 100. And I was right wasn’t I? It enhanced the need of the commoner to be known and heard. Another similar SNS would then be Twitter, a favorite among stars. Obviously this kind of medium is a hit to them because they can easily post whatever they were doing in the moment without the press to do it for them; they can reply as quick too. And when stars love it, there’s no way everyone else won’t. Everyt...

Shorties: You voted for him so deal with it.

On the next elections, Saranggani residents should definitely consider voting via Twitter. http://professionalheckler.files.wordpress.com/2011/03/22_pacmanno.jpg

Shorties: Happy Women's Day!

Image
We have no idea why we don't celebrate Men's day but we know why we do for Women's (and for children). At times I feel like I wanted to be of the other sex but then I realize how this generation is made for us women. But no matter how we feel empowered there are still Eve's children who suffer from different kinds of abuse. Let us all pray and hope that someday, truthfully, our kins will also be free. Shorties: Oh yeah!!!

Like I won't censor that

Bye Nielsen!

Even if I haven't watched all of your films, I enjoyed the ones I did. Thank you :-)

HP7: Goodbye Part 1

Image
Although it isn't obvious, I have semi-dismissed my movie reviews (as if anyone would miss that haha). Anything I've seen starting from the last Resident Evil I haven't thought of writing but I'm making last Saturday's movie an exception-- the first part of Harry Potter 7. With the thought of Rowling co-producing the last two movies me and my youngest sister have huge expectations. For anyone who have seen the last one and actually read the book, I'm betting that we all are much disappointed how the last film turned out. It skipped so many important things, the Elder wand was out of place and the amazing description of Dumbledore's funeral never took place. And since we are now saying goodbye to the series, it is most fitting that we get to see more of the celebrated franchise. And so we watched. It wasn't in an IMAX cinema as I've promised before but because I thought that since there isn't a 3D moment, there is no use shelling that much m...

Incoherent Musings about Carlos Celdran and the RH Bill

When I was still in this Non-Life Insurance company I remembered that time when they had two consecutive outings, one was an all expense paid trip to Bora and a tour date at Intramuros. For a non regular employee (I was just deployed as a Developer/Consultant there) of course we can't take part on the trips but unlike most of my officemates who are envious at the Bora outing, I was more interested, drooling to add at that, to the Manila tour with Carlos Celdran. I don't recall when but I know for the longest time, I am quite fascinated with the guy (and I haven't even met him yet!). For the past weeks we've been seeing him on TV, and on how he was imprisoned for a while for his solo protest. I was shocked I almost stood from where I was seated (I was at the bus) but smiled after a while when I learned of his reason. It's so like him. Even his protest has 'class'. Like most sensible bills that haven't seen the light of day in this country, the RH bill i...

Homework Ban

Just as I thought that E-vat was the stupidest thing that has ever happened to Pinoys, here's a neck to neck contender. The no Friday homework. The intention of this law is so that students may have more time to bond with the rest of their family during weekends due to teachers not giving them any homework. Even if the intention meant to be "good" as they say, I really don't see any sense. For one, students DON'T DO THEIR HOMEWORK ON WEEKENDS. They cram Monday morning. And what family bonding are they talking about? They'd (students) have more time in front of the computer or go malling with their friends! And why? Because their parents are either asleep the entire weekend, or are still keeping up with generating more income (that's because their salaries flow out of their pockets due to excessive taxations in every little thing there is) or do weekend chores their lazy fat ass kids don't bother do. Our student demographic are lazy and stupid enough ...
