Theater Play: Coriolano

Image
Based on a Shakesperian tragedy Coriolanus, Coriolano is it's Filipino adaptation which as I've researched performed as in Wikipedia in times of political turmoil. Talk about being extremely timely. As much as I would like to delve into that there's too much noise around it already so let's just discuss the play instead. *Spoilers at this paragraph down here: Here's a compressed plot: Coriolano was a courageous Roman general who was enjoying success on merit. His downfall started when he was pushed by his mother to politics unto which his detractors defeat him through gossip and lies which again wasn't a difficult feat because he was already infamous among the masses being impatient towards them and short tempered. At his lowest he found himself amongst the enemies, joined them to defeat the Romans until his mom Volumnia convinces him to spare them. This obviously didn't sit well with the side who held him up at his lowest and so he was killed. S

Shopping: Owndays

Some weeks back I've now gotten a new pair of glasses. The one I currently use already have recognizable scratches and I thought maybe it's time for another prescription. The one nearest my house is Ojo but I don't get a lot of good reviews from there and I am not keen in buying from the traditional ones too (EO, Vision Express) for a very good reason I'd say in a bit. I ended up going to Owndays since it's on my walking route. I'm anxious in going to shops where there are more assistants than buyers so it took a long time to finally look around. When I did I just decided to suck it up and look at some frames. I was so nervous in fact that I got one of the first frames I was presented. Not until my eye exam was over did I ask if I could still change frames because I fondly remember it not framing my face well. I'm not sure if my assistant hated that I chose a frame almost 2k less but hey, in all fairness to me I did end up with something that lo

Gadget: Wacom Intuos

After a year of thinking about it, I have now jumped the gun and bought a unit. I was supposed to get the cheaper one but even without any pitch from the sales guy I was immediately convinced with 2 things: I get two software copies and when not charging, it could be used wireless! Installation is a breeze, I just needed to connect the device and it automatically installs the needed drivers. But then it ends there. I wanted to get the promised free software immediately so I attempted to get them, but first I need to register the device which is after I sign up for a new account.  Here's the thing, their website is inherently terrible. It took so long for it to allow me to sign up and load to even register. When I was able to do those two things, I then attempted to load the pages to download the software I chose (I get 2/3 available for Intuos) but no matter how long I try I always get server errors! Yay free nibs! When I got fed up I reached t

Ballet Philippines: The Tales of the Manuvu

Image
Not until I was seated did I realize that I have not seen a ballet performance before-- and the one with Lisa Macuja at Star City does not count I think (that was ages ago too!). Since it's my first time to watch I DIDN'T KNOW that ballets could (at this point I'm still guessing) have opening performanceS. Yes, that's not a typo, a large S because there were 4. Concerts have it, so far the musicals I've been to didn't have any so color me surprised when on the second performance it confused me a lot on what happened to the colorful costumes I've been seeing on their posters and the narrative I'm supposed to be seeing. There's a lot of tone colors, blacks and reds. I remembered skimming through the program and seeing something about "The Beginning of All Things". I certainly did not felt it on the first performance nor at the last and the third one made it all the more confusing when it's about a mother. Is this some allegor

Public Projects: Paranaque Interchange Terminal (PITX)

One of the things that I have envied from our travel to KL a few years back was how surprised I was in their bus hub. It was very neat, even better than most of our domestic airports. Comparatively, our bus stops are even worse than that: dingy, inefficient, lack of everything: seats, clean working bathrooms and capable staff. I remembered we found ourselves on a bus terminal at a certain province asking which bus to take to where. Each guy we ask all have various answers to where. We spent a whole lot of time running around finding which is the correct one! It's not even an isolated thing! It's a common problem with our bus terminals you'd rarely get correct information. This could be an issue as well when you try to visit Cavite, there's so many buses it's daunting which to take especially if you barely have a minute to ask along EDSA. I'm glad I lived there all my life so I know when the bus driver is just lying so you'd take the next bus instead o

TK: Super Easy Crunchy Fishballs

Image
Ingredients: 1 Whole Relyeno - This is the easiest version. You could prepare your own, but I'd rather get the already deboned, pre cooked, seasoned fish mix. 3-5 Garlic cloves, minced - I want mine a bit garlicky! 3 Eggs - Add more depending on how much fish mix you have. 2 whole carrots, minced - It's upon one's own preference how "minced" you want your carrots to be. I got mine not too small because I wanted the mouth feel of the crunch of fresh carrots. Pepper to taste - no need for salt because the relyeno already have salt. Herbs - optional, according to preference on your fish. I added dried basil on mine. Flour Bread crumbs Oil for frying Steps: Mix in order: cloves, carrots, fish. Add eggs one by one until the mixture is enough to make a ball. Test via making balls in your hand and if it holds, stop adding more eggs. Add pepper and herbs. Mix well. Make the balls, dust with flour and roll in Bread crumbs. Set your heat on hi

I talked this over with Reagan who told me to wait a few days to ensure that I'm really decided. I knew I was the first time I've held a sample of those panels so I just spent that time planning on what configuration I would like to have and obsessing what kit I would buy. They had a 10% promo back then and my plan was to get 2 sets of 15+6 to a bargain price of 15k++! I only added around 900++ of additional stuff because my kit only had specific number of items. I already have a plan but on the day that we were there I am not sure how to tell the guys what I wanted because I have not seen something like it yet. What I did was show them close representations of what I want via samples over the net, a combination of display, bookshelf and a small workstation. Through this they've computed the things that I would need, how many panels, L and door joints, foot pads. On the night we got it, we've already started to assemble them. Here's what we learned: 1.
