Japan 2020 (Part 2)
We didn't have much planned for today because we're setting up in leaving tomorrow for Nagasaki so we just settled for a day tour.
+ Ohori Park, Fukuoka Castle Ruins +
Parks no matter where you are are best experienced during the mornings. We got there when there were joggers around. We found one of those vendo machines I kept on bragging about, where you get the hot cans that is perfect temp to drink. There is none of the miso flavor so I got the corn one which is still good.
The park have a few plants here and there but not as lush as I imagine it would in spring. It was a cloudy day too that adds to the gloomy effect. There are just a few people around, we may as well be the only non locals here.
We traversed the park via the bridge in the middle and we attempted to walk towards the Fukuokashi museum. Unfortunately when we reached it, it was closed for renovation. We then just walked towards the Fukuoka Castle Ruins.
There's not much there to find, it was literally just ruins. Although I imagined it be amazing when the sakura trees are in bloom. Even the plum trees aren't fully out at this time.
The ruins is free and the ascend to the top is worth it. The city vista at this point is breath taking, especially that there are only a few people around so we had plenty of time to take tons of shots and even panoramic videos.
We also looked for Korokan Ruins Museum but again, also closed. Both museums are supposed to take our time for the first half of the day, we did intend to go to Fukuoka Tower around 5PM when it's already evening but plans had to change due to this. We then decided to walk to pass time. We were able to reach the tower a few hours (after a quick lunch at the foodcourt of Markis mall).
+ Fukuoka Tower +
So the plan was, to get to the tower before sunset and get out at night right in time when the Illumination display starts. The thing is though, there weren't the sunsets we are used to in Manila. It's weird. It's like the orange coloration was just a streak and then it's now dark.
The observation deck is quite narrow, I can imagine it would be hard to take decent photos when it's fully packed. The lower deck has a few stuff to check out, a gashapon vendo, some love locks etc. Desserts offered on the tower are overpriced IMO so we didn't get any.
Entrance Fee: 800 JPY adult
+ This is why I don't like buses +
Since we got there by foot, it was a challenge in getting back. I know there's a bus but we can't get any that will actually stop. When we finally got the bus Google told us to take, it got even more confusing because it didn't take us home as we wanted! I'm already tired and I couldn't possibly walk all the way back again! What's worse is the route is different from what I'm seeing on my phone and I was already getting worried it's taking us further from where we should be. But we struck some luck when the bus's last stop was at a terminal and right in front of it, steps to a subway station, yay! Rochelle suggested to take another bus but I reasoned it was easier to take the train. Luckily she agreed.
