God On A Harley (1.25.09)

Image
Rating: ★★★ Category: Books Genre: Religion & Spirituality Author: Joan Brady Ok. So this was a cheap one. I never would have bought this if it was any pricier. This was the only budget I have this time so I purchased it anyway, hoping to find more books to read someday while I can’t still afford completing all the books I ought to own copies of. It may have been the title or how I related it to Good Omens (I wish to own a copy of) to a teeny extent, or the part in the front where it said ‘...guaranteed to warm your heart and make you feel good’ part why I even considered it but it was enough to catch my attention. But if I had just noticed that one on the top ‘If you’ve ever had a broken heart’ part, haha. Nope. I would have never. First parts of it I honestly liked till the part when the author came to the part of God, or Joe as he was named in human form in the book when I felt uneasy and thought of not going any further. You see I am quite convinced with what I’ve been learning...

Fringe (1.9.09) TV Series

Image
Rating: ★★★ Category: Other Let me get this straight first. I am a fan of Lost. I'm not a huge fan (i'm neither 200 pounds nor I scour the entire web just to get the latest updates) but I am a fan. I can talk hours and hours about theories and how I loved the entire series from the acting, to the lines and to the plot. And I love Abrams for that so I tried to take a look at Fringe. I heard it from another former officemate of mine who I've converted to be a Lostie who wants to check it out but left before I (accidentally) found the schedule on a local channel. I told this too to a friend of mine (another Lostie) and he said there are a lot of bad reviews from Lost fans and he surmises they just don't want Abrams to be occupied with another venture. I on the other hand, was, after watching an episode, partly convinced. Partly because I don't see the dynamic acting as I've witnessed in Lost even in the first time I've seen it. I even remembered how I ga...

The Day I Should Have Stood Still (1.10.08) (Part 2)

After having my fill in scrap items (I bought new stickers and paper), Mark finally came and from there I knew I wasn’t going to spend the entire day alone. We talked about everything as usual, from gossips to office to what scrapbooking really is. I mentioned him that prior via ym and I had a hard time telling him what that was. He then treat me chocolate donuts and some drink (Dunkin’ Donuts) but still no sign of our college friends. The original time was 10 and it’s already 4pm. Good thing I didn’t rely too much on them and was ready for this, again. Me and Mark chose to wait in front of Yellowcab and Carver’s and after an hour (I guess) later, he invited me to eat at Carver’s to kill more time. We were intrigued with their quarter pounder that is cheaper than Mcdonalds’. We placed same orders, but added strawberry mousse in his though I chose not to since I’m not that hungry yet. Before they served our food, Gheng came, thinner as ever and went in but didn’t order anything. Ou...

Prince Caspian (1.4.09)

Image
Rating: ★★★★ Category: Movies Genre: Action & Adventure I’ve already given it a 4 because I’m a bit (?!) biased with Caspian himself (these past few movies forgive me for being so prejudiced) without a single knowledge from the book (I will collect it as soon as I finish owning all the books I’ve read and haven’t forgotten). So I would judge this movie only with what I’ve seen so if you are a fan, or if you’ve read it, pardon my ignorance. After all the fantasy books and movies I couldn’t help myself compare those mythical creatures in this one, like the centaurs were weird (for me at least) that they aren’t arrogant as it was in Potter’s but the astrology ability was the same, the faun in Pan’s Labyrinth was better looking (yohoo *Sir del Toro!), the fighting trees here weren’t as funny as I found it in LOTR (remember that scene when some tree caught his leaves on fire then he suddenly dipped it on the flood to douse it. In such a serious ‘war’ moment I found it quit...

Everything Is Illuminated (1.4.09)

Image
Rating: ★★★ Category: Movies Genre: Other 3 Stars may sound bad (please do not compare my reviews from different movies, that would be unfair. My ratings are solely for one movie at a time and not a competition amongst them, probably for comparing remakes, though I’m not really sure yet) but I can’t really feel some sort of connection with this one, probably because of my high expectations when I saw this busted (not exactly or I couldn’t have watched it) copy in Video City (yes, I find myself fortunate to find titles that looks enticing and unheard of by my common friends which is a huge plus) about a collector, yeap, you guessed it right, someone like myself (but not that extreme). I forgot how much I got it but I’m fine I haven’t spent so much on it. Jonathan (Elijah Wood) collects everything and anything that marks a certain memory. Part of his collection are a sandwich, his grandma’s false teeth and on the film collected dirt from the river bank that is also a grave of the...

Baguio Been (Panagbenga Festival, 2.25.08)

Image
It's been a long time since I've been to Baguio. I was actually lucky to go back there in time with the Panagbenga (Flower) Festival. For some reason the name title stuck in my head together with the Pasadena Festival abroad.     Though far from being one, I still loved the idea that this festivity is such a hit to us city dwellers not to mention that it doesn't involve any religious feast of a saint like most of our fiesta's are. I think I just loved the fact that in this year, it went in accordance with the EDSA holiday on Monday, so what the heck. My mom's been waiting for ages for us to do it anyway.   It was such a relief that we don't need to commute up north but it also has it's drawbacks which was heightened by the fact that i have my period then. And it was my second day! Talking about overkill huh?     We started travelling at around 5pm. Traffic jam were mostly in the area of Cavite and the rest of the trip went on as smoothly as it ...

Yey Ram! (Year End Blog)

Yey! Nakakainis. Lahat na halos ng tao meron. Babye na 2008. It's nice to know you pero I have to move on na. Marami-rami rin akong nagawa noong panahon mo. And I am so proud na marami rin akong naexperience na bago this year. Andyan yung first year ko sa work ko as developer, first time ko sa LaMesa Eco-park at sa intramuros (after 4 or so years), same thing sa pagpunta namin sa province namin na grade5 or 6 ang last kong punta, nagouting kami sa CME, first time ko rin sa Camp Aguinaldo at FunRanch(Muntinlupa, andon yung mga anak ni Aga at Charlene huh?!) for our Xmas Parties. I've also been to Tagaytay (first time with my pinsans & pamangkins), had a lunch out with a few of my girlf...
