The White Tiger

Rating: ★★★★ Category: Books Genre: Literature & Fiction Author: Aravind Adiga I'm not really a fan of anything about India, especially after figuring out why they have so many films per year (most of them I believe are just movie copies of some successful film from another country-- e.g. 'The Eye' India's version. I shouldn't have forced my dad to watch it if I knew it's just a rerun/version of the Japanese flick, 'The Eye' I've watched years back. I so hate nothing most than I don't even know how to call it, is it still called a revival? Well I do hate lousy revivals that sound like the singer just thought of singing it without really doing something with the song and such 'movie revivals' like this one is just as pathetic no matter how you look at it) and how I was constantly harassed by Indians through ym and friendster, no matter how I tell them as civil as I can that I'm not interested, how they maliciously touch my f

Rating: ★★★★★ Category: Movies Genre: Comedy Let me think of a word. Wonderful. Aww... What I would do to have myself an original copy of this movie. Love it, love it. Finally, after being disappointed by Chronicles of Riddick (2 Stars), Mr. Magorium's Emporium (3 Stars) and Lady In The Water (2 Stars aww don't get me started that it's Shamylan's work) this truly hit the spot in my holiday movie hunting on cable channels. I first watched these dudes, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost (am I even allowed to even say couple if they are both men?) from Shaun of the Dead (today I found out they have a tv series, Spaced Out...drool), I even have a VCD of it, it was cool yeah, but not like this one. This one, did I even mention, I love it. I so love the twists and turns of the story, that wicked humor (you must see the cult with their flashlights haha!), that camera action you must have noticed zooming in of something same as with Shaun of the Dead, the gun fights (imagine f

Yours, Mine, Our 'Christmas' (12/22/08)

Fact: No, I am not a Roman Catholic, no I don't also believe that Christ was born on the 25th of December, I don't even care when his earth birthday really was, I don't believe in Santa but I do believe that December is my most favorite month, truly because of the HOLIDAYS, the gifts, the decorations, the culmination of the entire year and also due to MY birthday. Now before anyone of you would react, please do read the entire thing first. Two weeks ago, we had a different preacher at our church (Church Of Christ. Nope, not the Latter Day Saints or whatever words on or before those three words. Just plain COC.) because our regular was invited in Mindanao. It wasn't the sermon but for a part of it he did mentioned about 'Christmas'. He was talking that for 5 years he haven't have anything on their table on the 25th, no decorations, no gifts, banned carolers and inaanaks. Hmm. I believe when he ever visits the house at this time, I'm pretty sure he&

ANBSR: Breaking Dawn

Rating: ★★★ Category: Books Genre: Science Fiction & Fantasy Author: Stephenie Meyer Breaking Dawn (12/6/08) Since I'm testing my extraction, I will use this time to write my review on this book (but now I'm typing it on notepad after scribbling it on paper days back). The last and fourth installment of the series (a friend told me so, the 5th, Midnight Sun, for those unaware, is still Twilight, just the Edward version. I'm currently reading a draft on my spare time though I don't intend on 'actually' reading it... I can't find a real copy... sorry... besides I'm reading a different book at this moment), I am disappointed that the saga ended so soon. Aww. I even thought of stopping abruptly only to realize I couldn't stop myself (when did I ever anyway?) in reading the next chapters (I really need to step it up if I wanted to finish those other books I'm itching to read) on finding out what will happen next especially when my (obvi

Rating: ★★★ Category: Books Genre: Science Fiction & Fantasy Author: Michael Crichton (RIP) Finished this a month ago, I guess (it was before I started reading the Twilight book, which I just read after I watched the film, and basically that's how far in the past it is) which was never a part of my plans. The book just caught my eye in Booksale, seeing that it was in good condition and was so cheap, I've tried to give it a try. I've never read a Crichton book before and the fact that at that time I just read from Time Magazine that he just died made it all the more that I should read a work of his. Yes. Jackpot. The guy writes exactly what I want my writers to write, informative, fiction jiving with actual facts with a dash of witty humor. I especially like the character of Amy the Gorilla, she's such a cute (I never really thought you could ever have cute and gorilla in one sentence) and an adorable character. I also liked his descriptions and how he pre

Rating: ★★★ Category: Books Genre: Science Fiction & Fantasy Author: Stephenie Meyer Finally finished the book yesterday (Dec 4, which means it took me 4 days of sneaking it in between my work times, and an hour per day before finally retiring to my bed) and yes. It did entertain me. Now do not forget I just made the review of the movie version and my instincts are so right on how I hated the film. Why? Well let me enumerate 'some' parts: 1. In watching the film, have you noticed the gaps? Those parts where Bella and Edward just stare endlessly at each other? I didn't get it on screen but I do now understood what it meant. She is mystified by his beauty and he, mystified with her smell. Well sorry didn't really get it. They don't look mystified to me. 2. Rosalie (no not that vampire girl with the spiky hair, the other one) was not the one who wore Bella's jacket. It was Esme (their "mother") who not only wore her jacket, but instead, completely exc

To Mourn Someone Familiar

How would I write a poem to mourn A person I wasn't close to from highschool? We knew each other by name and face We may even had memories with our similar friends. But what would I write to mourn Someone I knew nothing special of? That all that I knew is less than who he really is, I may not even know who he had been lately! Why I would write a poem to mourn Is maybe due to reasons we are all unaware Or maybe because I never had the chance to learn Who he really was as others have known. Note: He wasn't my friend. He wasn't anyone in my life other than being my classmate. Yet this fact that makes me feel I should, in behalf of those who barely knew him, especially those people that surrounded him.
