The Lesser Known Pancit Center

Image
On one of our almost yearly attendance at Komikon, Reagan and I saw their Shaw Branch while we were finding our way back to Megamall. It intrigued me so at one time we purposely went to that area just so we can try it out.  It was a tiny diner, can probably (barely) seat just 20 people. On that particular Saturday no one was around so we had the leisure to choose as long as we want.  Those are Lechon Carahay (P270). They are expensive in my opinion because the serving is not as much. For that amount you could probably order Pata instead. Anyhow, it's truly crispy.  Reagan ordered this Pancit Cabagan (P65) which we both didn't enjoy as much. There's just so much sauce in it.  I was able to eat Batil Patong (P75) somewhere else before, didn't enjoyed it that time, but Pancit Center's version was to me an instant favorite. I had the liver removed though, but still, what it lacks in looks makes up for it's flavor. I enjoyed it so much so...

TME: My Las Pinas (Moonwalk-BF Resort) Mini Fieldtrip (1.25.2014)

Image
I got one of my wishes early this year by finally getting my long standing request of visiting the hometown of my bf. He showed me around, introduced me to his sister and one of their dogs and have finally seen their house. Unfortunately I wasn't able to meet her mom that time because we have missed her twice on different locations. More on that later. It was a Saturday noon, around 4 o'clock. We got an Alabang Bus and arrived at Moonwalk past 5 pm. Our first stop was Nature Church. It had high walls but you can already see by the facade it has a tall tree and even hear faint sounds of birds. When I saw the actual church I was blown away. It's a really large Bahay Kubo, it doesn't have walls and the chairs are tree stumps. The lighting looked like birds circling the entire roof. It was just beautiful! I bet it would be more amazing at night. The place is also huge: there's a chapel, a reception area (there's an ongoing event) and a small cemetery. We tri...

Let's talk Fastfood

Image
If you've seen the ads and the commercial on tv, the looks alone of the Pretzel Burger can make any burger fan drool. And like all good 'ol fashion commercial burgers they all look amazing until they smash your foodgasmic dreams into pieces lovingly served on a plastic tray. The last time I believed in an advert was with Jollibee's Garlic Pepper Beef. I was too disgusted with it to even take a picture. It was an abomination, my tongue burned with all the msgs they could put in the gravy I could not believe I allowed that on my mouth. And the beef? It doesn't even look anything at all like the photo!! Looks like scraps from real beef if you ask me! From now on I'll just stick with their Spicy Hot Chicken. Same as with the burgers at... I honestly forgot the fastfood name. They had named it double quarter and when it arrived at our table, it looked closer to two regular patty sandwiches stacked together. We could have just bought 3 Big Macs instead. One of my ir...

Tinapie @ Project Pie

Image
I'm more of a burger person so going here is for the boyfriend. I've been telling him about this for a long time but my body's inherent ability to digest dairy properly (cheese for instance) makes him think twice of asking me there so it took a while before we finally did. The nearest we can go to is the branch at MET Park. It's way past lunch time when we arrived yet the line is awfully long still. If it was lunch it would be much worse I reckon. A friendly waitress aids first timers. She repeats the same instructions to whoever is on the line to prepare us once it's our turn on the ingredients table. There are 3 choices, either we choose any premade pizzas from 1-8, DIY pizza and the combination of premade plus whatever additional you like. Since we came here to experience a DIY, we chose those. There are stations, you choose the sauce (dough base is generic so no need to fry braincells for it) then the types of cheese. I only got parmesan while Reagan cho...

On the News: The Missing Plane

Image
Everyone has their own theory on what happened to the still missing plane. I remembered noticing it on the news ticker while I was surfing for a channel to watch and I was extremely curious on that particular news I started looking for a channel that was currently reporting it. Finding none, I shrugged it off and forgot about it. It's already Tuesday and shockingly it's not yet found. I won't be a hypocrite and be overly emotional about this (for one, I don't have a special relationship to anyone on board for me to be overly attached) but I suddenly become scared at one of the sites an officemate of mine told me to read. http://naturalguru.co/six-important-facts-youre-told-lost-malaysia-airlines-flight-370/  * (*which I think was copied elsewhere as well.  you decide :-)) He (or she?) has laid out points on why theories hounding web space can be debunked (so easily may I add) to the point of making me get goosebumps. We've probably heard of someone some...

Thoughts on our Valentine's Date

Image
Have I just posted a Rom-Com at my blog?!!! What am I thinking!! Whenever people ask who came up with the idea of watching Starting Over Again this Valentine's I point to my boyfriend. I don't watch Romance movies too often, let alone a local one. Maybe that's the reason why he invited me in the first place for a change. Prior to this though a good friend of mine kept on making me watch Pinoy Romantic movies on every opportunity she gets. She was successful in about 3 of them I think. My sisters also insisted in us seeing Bride for Rent which was just OK. It was a weird experience seeing it in the movie house. It was a rom-com but the only times I laughed (twice I think) were the only times no one did. I don't know what to make out of it. It's either there is something wrong with me or them. So anyway, we watched Starting Over Again and it had a lovely ending-- SPOILER ALERT -- They didn't end up with each other. Now before you react violently ...

TME: NBI Clearance Again!

Image
Before we start let me remind you that you are actually reading a post of mine because you are too lazy to go directly to their website to learn how. That or you were confused where the heck is the NBI website because clearly the one in NBI 's button isn't working for the NBI Clearance site (who makes these websites, don't they have a QA?) ; yeah it's a different site I know. Here's a summary: http://www.nbi.gov.ph/  --> This is where you go when you feel like reading their achievements and whatever announcement they can think of https://nbi-online.com/  --> This is where you go when you need to apply for an NBI Clearance. Now, you are still lazy to go there to learn the steps HOW TO APPLY FOR ONE? Fine. Read on. We are all aware of the long queues in government offices (Why don't they just hire more people? Don't we have tons of jobless graduates?) so you've probably heard that you can go straight to Photo taking stage and Claiming but...
