TIB: I won't be in yellow tomorrow

Image
What do I know of People Power anyway? My parents haven't even made me yet in Feb 1986. If we do the numbers I won't even be in my mom's belly not until April. Yeah, yeah, freedom. The power to watch anything. Listen to anything. Write anything. Be anytime, anywhere I want. All the things I could ever want some countries could only hear and dream of having. All within my reach. But then, I'm not the only one who has it. That guy who composes ear piercing third rate songs have it too. That student who goes on partying all night instead of study have it too. That teacher who instead of learning lessons have more time updating their status in FB or finding the next password to a porn site have it too. That politician who brazenly campaigns himself every election day with no real purpose have it too. That actress who did nothing but force everyone in her life have it too. That unemployed mugger have it too. That drug addict have it too. All of us have th...

More, More, More at Jang Chung Dong Korean Restaurant

Image
My youngest sister was frantic when she learned Malate is peppered with Korean restaurants. I've already took her twice to Mi Ga but haven't to anywhere yet. She saw Korean Village but told I've been there so instead  we came to this small restaurant overshadowed by the rest. I was confident with the pricing of Korean food so far so we got in to the first one that was almost empty with customers. Walking in we were forwarded to the table next to the framed pictures with signatures on the wall. None of us have thought of taking a photo of that wall but we were delighted to recognize MC Mong in one of them. We assumed they were previous guests giving the 'illusion' (since we weren't sure) that they came here. But still you won't stop raising your expectation a bit higher there. Side dishes of the day  We haven't tried Soju back in Mi Ga nor haven't in any other Korean restaurant but in spite of me not paying for it, youngest sister insisted ...

TME: Phil. International Guitar Festival (1.29.31)

Image
Just be clear I am not one of those girls who suddenly learned guitars when it became a guy magnet. In fact I don't know how to play the guitar, let alone any instrument. So in any day, I would overlook this event in any means possible. But today and the rest of the days (cross fingers) it is not any day. I oblige myself to be (somewhat) immersed in a hobby I know someone likes. Meeting at MOA we chose to ride in those cute little vehicles that roam the CCP grounds. Unfortunately, it's our first mistake of the day, prompting us to be late on the first class. What we took was the wrong route, making us walk from worldtrade to CCP. Click for a closer view. No, seriously. Amando Derecho heads the beginner class for the day. Coming in late he was already discussing the 8th note, 16th note, the '!', groupings, accent, amongst others. Sure I didn't understand a thing. And none of the 'actual teach' when it was over. All I know he didn't need to tell me anymore...

Urban Adventures: The Great American Circus (12.22.10)

Image
I am no newbie to the SMX area so I wondered a circus can fit in the convention halls. I was thinking of a huge open court where all the trampolines and trapeze lines could all fit in but when we came there no tent was in sight. Even when I asked the guard she just instructed us to go downstairs. They are dead serious that Halls 1 and 2 are enough! So I held my breath as we we walked in. How in hell would they be having a circus in a convention hall...? (Cricket chirping) You won't see a photo of the entire place because I forgot to snap some shots with the lights on but I will describe it to you the best way I can. On the left side is the circus ring where covered monobloc chairs formed a half moon for the audience. No special theater-like seating like in those carnies, just simple chairs. Well there is a bit of elevation but it's just about a ruler high I estimate. On the right side you have some food stands, a Private Iris booth, a souvenir shop, a stage for photo ops and...

Yang Chow: Cheap and fabulous. (11.01.10)

Image
Why Imus hasn't yet become a city is because of the rare businesses that should be there in the first place. Take for example the food industry. There are only a few of these restaurants that exist in the Imus area and most of it are either in malls or just your regular fast food joint. So it's not hard to imagine why Yellowcab has been a breath of fresh air especially to the social wannabes who wanted to have other places to hang out. One of the restaurants that opened this year was Yang Chow in Palico. It's this small little Chinese place which after it's grand opening, closed even before a week due to technical difficulties (says so in the banner back then) and reopened. And when it did, we it was our chance to finally have a taste of the place. First they'd offer you tea. I know that I shouldn't be drinking tea because of me being acidic but what the heck. It's the best free tea I've ever tasted in a chinese restaurant.  Then came som...
