Suicide Club (2.20.09)

Rating: ★★★ Category: Movies Genre: Foreign I rarely have the opportunity to know movies from our neighbouring countries, most of them I just heard, or read somewhere (such as in the case of Battle Royale which I read (then watched) from Time ages ago. The sequel I just learned from a classmate back in college). This one though was lent to me by an officemate who I'm beginning to think was the best source of anything (I can think of) Japanese. Anyways, other than since this is a copy and I can forward it to scenes once it gets boring, well I could say that it didn’t trigger my powerful fingers. I was actually saying 'No Way' the entire time (good thing I was home alone) even though I knew the hell they'd still do jump (badly reminds me of ‘The Happening’ though I have no utmost right to even mention it here since I’ve only seen the trailer) or do something ridiculous (like that mom who sliced her fingers off). There were a lot of (well to me, looks like) incoh...

Romantic-Free Valentine's (2.14.09)

Image
I wasn't happy with the results of the first time I wrote this blog, so here I am, rewriting. I have all the time tonight (Sunday, Feb 15) to write this anyway so here I am, doing it. I never had romantic dates on the 14th of February, just group dates, and group get togethers but never a passe, watch-a-movie-dinner-with flowers type of a date. Guess I didn't have any boyfriend who would take me out at such time since for most, either I just broke up with one before Feb or just earned one (a bf) months later. But I didn't have too many relationships in the past to even think it would even be possible. Days prior my cousin was inviting us to go to MOA to watch Lova-Palooza but besides the fact that who in the world who is single would like to watch hundreds of couples kissing   whilst I don't have anyone to smooch with, I have set most of the income I've generated for the cutoff to my financial obligations, most of them to my sister's. I just said we...

SA (Sobrang Antok) Training (2.4.9)

Grabe. Since last Thursday pa kong less 4 hours lang ang tulog. Alam kong ganon na kalala ang pagpupuyat ko at pagsespend ko ng almost 24 hours sa harap ng pc nang marealize ko na for the last few days I wake up e nagpapalpitate ako na para bang I’ve been working out. Darn. Tingin ko pag tinrack ko yung nag-ta-throb sa may bandang ilalim ng chin ko (the one closer sa neck, left side) more than 80 sya in a minute (I’ve watched this before na normal daw is 30 beats a minute, the moment you wake up. Safe is 60, there is a problem if it had gone to 80). I fear for my life. Naalala ko yung kwento ng ka-office mate ko na may friend (ata) yung friend nya who suddenly died on his sleep. He was a health buff yet he died. In autopsy they found his heart wrapped in fat. Well syempre hindi sila related na situation pero nakakatakot pa rin. Baka kasi sa sobrang sleep deprived ko e bigla na lang ako magshut down. Eee kakatakot. Anyways, before I went to sleep, I actually asked na sana magising ...

Alvin and the Chipmunks (1.25.09)

Rating: ★★★ Category: Movies Genre: Kids &Family It was almost two weeks since I’ve seen this on Star Movies. Yeah yeah, another late watch, with another sooo late of a review. But I’d be doing it anyway, told you, I’d write a review for every movie I’ve watched given I’ve seen it from start til end. A weird feeling of seeing an adaptation of another a-once-upon-in-my-childhood animation of protagonists animals, this I liked than the rest. Unlike TMNT, the CGI that was used here was rather necessary (I mean, I think it’s a whole lot of feasible to draw them than train real live chipmunks to act), way created more realistic than Scooby Doo and more likeable than Garfield (other than being a dog lover, who likes a dancing, fat, snob cat anyway?). Special effects that made the movie an ‘extra’ tug, but the plot wasn’t anymore special. Simple and predictable. That’s how I see it, cues that left too much for the head that it’s impossible to not know what will happen n...

God On A Harley (1.25.09)

Rating: ★★★ Category: Books Genre: Religion & Spirituality Author: Joan Brady Ok. So this was a cheap one. I never would have bought this if it was any pricier. This was the only budget I have this time so I purchased it anyway, hoping to find more books to read someday while I can’t still afford completing all the books I ought to own copies of. It may have been the title or how I related it to Good Omens (I wish to own a copy of) to a teeny extent, or the part in the front where it said ‘...guaranteed to warm your heart and make you feel good’ part why I even considered it but it was enough to catch my attention. But if I had just noticed that one on the top ‘If you’ve ever had a broken heart’ part, haha. Nope. I would have never. First parts of it I honestly liked till the part when the author came to the part of God, or Joe as he was named in human form in the book when I felt uneasy and thought of not going any further. You see I am quite convinced with what I’ve been learning...

Fringe (1.9.09) TV Series

Image
Rating: ★★★ Category: Other Let me get this straight first. I am a fan of Lost. I'm not a huge fan (i'm neither 200 pounds nor I scour the entire web just to get the latest updates) but I am a fan. I can talk hours and hours about theories and how I loved the entire series from the acting, to the lines and to the plot. And I love Abrams for that so I tried to take a look at Fringe. I heard it from another former officemate of mine who I've converted to be a Lostie who wants to check it out but left before I (accidentally) found the schedule on a local channel. I told this too to a friend of mine (another Lostie) and he said there are a lot of bad reviews from Lost fans and he surmises they just don't want Abrams to be occupied with another venture. I on the other hand, was, after watching an episode, partly convinced. Partly because I don't see the dynamic acting as I've witnessed in Lost even in the first time I've seen it. I even remembered how I ga...

The Day I Should Have Stood Still (1.10.08) (Part 2)

After having my fill in scrap items (I bought new stickers and paper), Mark finally came and from there I knew I wasn’t going to spend the entire day alone. We talked about everything as usual, from gossips to office to what scrapbooking really is. I mentioned him that prior via ym and I had a hard time telling him what that was. He then treat me chocolate donuts and some drink (Dunkin’ Donuts) but still no sign of our college friends. The original time was 10 and it’s already 4pm. Good thing I didn’t rely too much on them and was ready for this, again. Me and Mark chose to wait in front of Yellowcab and Carver’s and after an hour (I guess) later, he invited me to eat at Carver’s to kill more time. We were intrigued with their quarter pounder that is cheaper than Mcdonalds’. We placed same orders, but added strawberry mousse in his though I chose not to since I’m not that hungry yet. Before they served our food, Gheng came, thinner as ever and went in but didn’t order anything. Ou...
