Why I’m boycotting the Twilight Series (8.22.2009)

Image
DISCLAIMER: Don’t flame me if you’re a fan. I don’t have the time to deal with you so you know what’s best at this type of posts. You simply ignore it. Ok fine. I read the book, rated the entire book series 3 stars and watched the first movie. Well to make it clear I watched it BEFORE I even dared read it. And I read it because I thought there is MORE Meyer offered on the book. Thinking about it, to me it was just ok and IS JUST ENOUGH for me to finish it. But it WASN’T that good that... 1. It would make me watch the succeeding movies expecting that it would be better than the first nor even tolerate the thought of watching it with ignorant juveniles on movie theatres who’d probably be screaming the entire time. 2. I would shout out to the world how good it is. 3. If asked the tiring question, which was better, Harry Potter or Twilight and I’d ever choose the latter? No freaking way. Stephen King followed the HP series. Twilight however have some hopeless emos on its list. Actually, I ...

Who will cry for Borgy? (8.17.9)

Monday morning my father told me that our dog was about to die. I just took a bath then, but I was scared that I called him by our window. I didn’t notice how weak he was until he immediately moved his head to my call, no, not to the window where he was closer to and where I was, but to the door. His eyes were blank staring hard at the door as if he was trying to look for me but couldn’t see. And then he lazily dropped his back to the ground, as if it was his last effort to move. And when I was about to leave, I stopped by and came by his side looking at him, hearing him catching his breath. By the time I was on the van on the way to work, father said he just died. At that moment I didn’t cry. It’s probably the stupid noise on the radio or me being aware that he was about to pass away that didn’t made me shed a tear. But when I came to work and narrated what happened to an officemate who also owns dogs I can’t help my eyes to well with tears. I don’t care if that camera overhead sees m...

Secret (9.15.9)

Rating: ★★★ Category: Movies Genre: Romance What was mysterious with XiaoYu was obvious from the start. If a viewer would not have guessed that there is something wrong with her character, they would not have been completely paying attention with the hints laid all throughout. A love story that was almost tragic, it is a break from all the tragic one-of-the-character-dies endings we are so used to watch. But even if I wasn't any surprised with the twist, I'm a Lost fan afterall (hey that's already a spoiler), I think that at least what they've done is a wise deviation from an idea that has been used for so many times already. At least we can all see the effort. And one more thing. Has anyone noticed how most characters in films of our neighboring countries here in Asia are musical prodigies? And most of which are geniuses in piano?

Yes you read it right. Two days. F or the first time in my history of con-going I (err... we) are present for two days. It's also OUR first time in MCC (which I still haven't heard the reason why suddenly it's Metro not Manila Comic Con), first time to sell our stuff in Megamall, first time I wasn't by the stage to watch the 10 second poses of cosplayers/costrippers, first time that Wilvic's on the booth, first time to wear an exhibitor's (well, ours was written SPONSOR. Sir Heubert said they ran out of EXHIBITOR's) id passes (UP Komikon's doesn't have those IDs), first time I get to call cosplayers to actually come to our booth since I rarely have the time to roam around, first time to 'actually' do sales talk (which is primarily caused by Tepai and Maika next to us). first time to see Czarina out of her Otaku's Den, first time a friend of mine who actually went there just to visit and buy our stuff, and a whole lot of first times. ...

Rating: ★★★★ Category: Movies Genre: Romance After being happy with portrayal of Eric Tsang, the amiable Sam on Infernal affairs trilogy, here he is again, playing the role of Jumboball, the friend of the protagonist, Onion (Richie Ren). A love story (yes, a love story believe it or not) between a blind and mute patient (Onion) and of Miss Autumn (Cecilia Cheung), a nurse. Both are in love with each other but even before they get to have the chance to have them known, Onion dies in an accident. The story goes on with Onion having a chance of 5 days stay on earth so he'd be able to see her once again. In his given days, he gets to meet probably the two most important people back when he was alive, Jumboball who used to make him salty lemon seven while he (Onion) gives him a massage. Later on, this is the last indicator that he (Jumboball) gets to know that right before in his eyes is Onion only not who he used to 'see'. And obviously he meets Autumn (who dare ...
