Hokkaido Ramen Santouka: Burst your Belly! (03.23.2013)

Image
Right in front of SM Makati Food court lies a new Ramen house that has lately been the talk of blogs. Nothing too fancy with the name, everyone can practically pronounce it, plus it is quite easy to find.  One very good indicator that a place is good is how the place is fully packed. It's not 100% true but there wasn't a hostile soul at that time so I assume that everything is okay. It took a while for a staff to notice us even though there are a lot of servers. I was already waving my hand to a server but she looked the other way and was ready to be annoyed. But just a few minutes, we are escorted by a waitress and were finally seated. Unfortunately we didn't get a seat where me and bf seats next to each other so in case you dear reader plans to go there with a partner better get there early. The first thing I noticed once I opened the menu is the fact that the prices for the Ramen Sets are unusually cheap. I mean look at this: Like each set gets a small bowl

International Breakfast Day with Mcdonalds (03.18.13)

Image
Not exactly with (because I had it for take out), but my breakfast was courtesy of Mcdonalds today and it's almost free! Almost because I added hot choco to go (35). While I was walking though, I noticed that my hot chocolate is so light :-( It's as if it's only half full. To think I paid good money for it :-(. What's more, look at the mcmuffin I got for free below: Was it always ham though? I think the reason why I loved mcmuffin is because they serve it with a dried patty in the middle (no I'm not being sarcastic, I seriously love the combination!!) . What's more, look how burnt the bread is :-(. The paper it came with was stuck on the bread too so one half of the mcmuffin was torn off even before I was able to eat it. Oh sigh. Beggars can't be choosers though. It was like Russian roulette anyway. Better luck next time for me! So, Mcdonalds, Thanks for the free Mcmuffin!! :-D

Living Independently: EP03 The Gym

Image
I am the last person you would find in a gym but since the bf is on that phase again, I have no more reasons why I shouldn't go. For instance, the gym is not even more than 5 minutes away from where I am and the time that I have is enough for a 30 minute session. Membership I went on a Sunday on the gym and an instructor walked me around the area. A minute later I was now a member for 2 months. There's no issue if I get the 12 month membership (prices go down per month, the higher the number of months you get) but I figured I need to be realistic in my goals. First day Was a bummer. I went on the connection at 6, see it closed, then went there 30 minutes later. It was a fail!! Later I realized there is another way to the gym which I will try the next morning. The Real First Day I went there a bit late, around 630 I think and there were now a lot of people in the cardio area. I was hoping to use the treadmill but the units are all taken. So the guy assisted me

Living Independently: EP02 Water and Laundry

Image
Water Living alone may have the perks of providing for just one person but then it also entails that I don't have anyone to help me with. I am quite comfortable with this bubble that I live in so going out in search of what's out there alone is not my forte. I was told by the owner that the water station is just on the building and it was easy to spot. In fact, I just turned a corner and was lucky to find it the first time. I paid eagerly (the guy at the counter immediately realized I'm new since I paid already) and waited till he came to my unit.  When he came and delivered the blue containers, I was more than ecstatic finally getting something to drink. Laundry Involved rather a much needed effort. I went out walking and strained my eyes hoping to spot it without giving away how new I am to the area. There may be comfort in a crowd (there are a lot of tricycle drivers and pedestrians around) but in that same crowd who knows what type of people lurks

Living Independently: EP01 First Night

Image
I never experienced living out of the house before (other than vacations) and my first of nights was so hard to believe at all. I also thought I was prepared as I could ever be yet Not soon as 5 minutes I found out how I neglect in bringing a lot of stuff. There are also a lot of things to be considered too! Dinner So I was settled, watching TV for the first time in an hour I used to still be at a bus commuting home and was overwhelmed by it. I sat down around 7 pm and was shocked that it's already 9 and I have no dinner. My area is peppered with so many food choices but I chose to not go elsewhere. Instead I was saved (for today) by the leftovers by my officemate who didn't want to take it home. Later on I realized I should give in to buying myself food which I have to prepare for just one. At least I won't be feeding other people. Time For someone who spent a long time of getting by each day commuting the time that I am now bestowed is by far the biggest perk
