Roadtrip: Tarlac Daytrip! (3.25.2016)

Image
We were told by our relatives (mother side) that our Mamang (Grandma) wanted to see us. So just in time for the Holy Week, we decided to visit her at Tarlac. Our final ETD is evening of Thursday and will be coming home by Sunday morning. With that in mind, we have two days to go to roam around the city... if there was anywhere to go. Upon our research we found out that there isn't much that Tarlac has to offer. Maybe because of their neighboring Clark that they decided to nothing about it. Or maybe Hacienda Luisita is just too large there is not much land left for recreation. Speaking of Hacienda, they do have a museum but it's not open for the holidays so that's already out of our IT. + Monasterio de Tarlac + We woke up a bit a late the next day (Friday) that the sun was already up when we started to drive to Monasterio de Tarlac. We passed by Tarlac TechnoPark but didn't bother to go since half of us are seniors and would probably not enjoy the activities they have th

Vicious Titas and Relationships They Wish You Have

I was eating my cravings at lunchtime when I saw an office girl joined a group of older females also dining in. It didn't shock me when I overheard the two questions aged women never fail to ask their young counterparts: "Are you married?" (I guess she said no because...) "But you do a have a boyfriend, right?" (Cue me rolling eyes and stripping the flesh off a rib bone) I had a similar encounter sometime ago which I love recalling to friends because my aunt was just too brash: (*Well obviously this happened in Filipino so let me translate it for everyone) Tita: Joy lose some weight! How can you have a boyfriend with that? Me: (shocked at how she said it at our house, eating the food we prepared) Cousin: (probably embarrased too, even the neighbors might have heard with that decibel) She does, haven't you seen her Facebook? Me: (smiles, phew, it was over...) Tita: (paused but was able to recover) Why are you not married yet?!! You're getting old! Me: (th

We started our journey right after breakfast and checked out. We navigated towards Taal which is hailed as Vigan of the South. We had high hopes for the so called ancestral houses but said buildings were a bit sparse and the moniker is just a bit exaggerated. It is clean though. For a town center it is very well maintained. We've visited Basilica of St. Martin of Tours, Asia's largest Catholic Church (yay!) in Asia and it's gorgeous inside. This is why I love going to Catholic Churches around the country because it's Art on it's own. There's also another smaller church we've been, Shrine of Our Lady of Caysasay. The facade is nothing special but the altar looks amazing. Maybe if they could renovate the exterior it would be so dramatic. None of the galleries were open when we came (it was a Monday) which is ironically what happened to us when we were in Vigan as well. We had lunch at Cafe G which is usually recommended at Taal. Cute interiors, food are ok as

La Chevrerie We are all in awe at the villa. The place is just comfortably huge you can fit like 7-10 people easy. There are tons of beds and the sofas are huge. There are also two baths, large TVs on both floors and an overlooking balcony. Even the table is good for hosting a large family gathering. The price of the villa is within the 20k++ range but I only get to pay half because the other half is the total price of what I won. Also my winnings include full course meals and a massage for two. I'm not comfortable with a massage so I had my sister and father claim that themselves. There are other rooms available but they are on a separate building below because the resort is not in level with each other; the pool, L' Atelier and most of the rooms are steps down. So in case by dinner time your calves are already screaming foul going up and down the villa and the pool you can just call the cafe to deliver your food. The pricing of the food is expensive as well (if you can afford

Whaaaaaat!! I'm posting an old roadtrip?? Yes way! So I won a contest last year from Nailaholics: a one night stay in an exclusive resort at La Chevrerie. It was supposed to be for 2 people only but I thought I should bring the family along instead. Upon conversation with the management of the hotel, I could get another room for two but that would be weird since there are 3 of us girls and our father. Plus the price of another room is the same amount I could put in on their private villa. I got that instead. From Cavite, the trip was extremely long. There wasn't any traffic but then I realized I should have volunteered to drive some miles. It's impossible for me to mess it up right? Traversing the road with the windows down is awesome. The air is fresh and the view is breathtaking. At first it was just like trees and the Taal, until we saw something looking out of the ordinary: Since we're trying to get there after lunch time, we didn't stop over. We attempted on th

A catalogue and a book in one, this is a series waiting to happen. It was a bit dark than expected (I may not watch it if it's too serious)  and I tried not to imagine too much on the descriptions especially when it had turned grim. I liked the humor of it though, being an Ikea wannabe, which made me buy it in the first place. I enjoyed reading the entire thing, and the process in which the protagonist found her calling. You could see her change from the lazy debt ridden girl to a hero with a purpose. I was already vouching her to just leave near the end but hey, that's where sequels start.

7 Taho vendors. Or 8. Not sure if he's the same guy on the way back. Walked some parts of the neighborhood (if that's what you can call it) today and boy it was... quick. Maybe because it was the weather (it wasn't as hot) or probably because I've become too fond of the area that although it is far apart, I already know where to go. I think I almost made an hour, so maybe it wasn't a good idea in leaving the cellphone at home (or get myself a watch?). The walk today wasn't "planned " it was just another one of these things I thought I should start, and since I woke up a bit early today, I thought what the heck and go on with it. I initially thought of using the same shirt I slept on last night but it has a hole near the neck at the back and I hate shirts with unsightly holes especially ones that can be seen by people other than myself. I always say it's better to wear clothes that have no brand at all than anything with holes or from ukay*. So anyw

Okay, I still love my kindle you guys but there are some books that needed to be printed. In this case it is not a "real" book but a series of reading materials you can read and start wherever you fancy! I first saw this from a newsletter back then but only had the interest of buying one after the BF gifted me another awesome book (which i haven't read, but you will know once I open it in the future, it's so cool believe me). I am also on the haunting for my House of Leaves copy which is another unique material on its own. It's currently missing, which is quite funny considering the book tackles on a missing room as well. OK, I digress. It was an easy read, the actual opening of the box much harder than I thought. I wanted to preserve the plastic it was on but then I had one of those days when I do something "irrational" just because I'm bored. So I opened it, removed it from the plastic it was on and started reading (after taking photos of course).
