The Hobbyt: Embossers

Image
I was looking for a cheap speaker and I ended up buying this as well: Where to find this scrapbook gadget? Head over to CDR-King and get yours for 200php. Don't forget to test if it really does emboss on paper (bought mine but haven't used it yet)

Concerts: Dream on with Aerosmith (05.08.2013)

Image
Last year when Tyler was a judge in AI, there were rumours about them having a concert here in Manila. There were no promotions that time so we thought that was just a rumour. Until of course, they started selling. The most expensive tickets we usually reserve buying are for our favorites. Aero wasn't a favorite of mine nor Reagan's so it's heartbreaking to learn that the tickets are too expensive!! 15k is just too much that even if they're my favorite band, I would pass! So we settled on an Upper Box seating worth 5k each. I can't remember where we sat back in Saltimbanco (most concerts we liked are in Araneta) so I've no idea how far that may be. And then we got lucky. In time with the Mega 3 day sale, they announced about the 50% off on VIP Standing! I'm okay with standing anyway so we immediately had ours upgraded. I also learned that Metrodeal made a similar offer. We theorize that it seems like audiences do not want to pay that much for standing

The Cordillera Road Trip: EP16: Sagada to Baguio Sightseeing

Image
As planned we went out of Sagada as early as we can. We weren't able to do lots of stuff here but I intend to go back anyway. Plus there is a concert I need to go to right after this and that I can't miss :-D so we have to make do on the time limit we have. A lot of people recommend Kiltepan Peak for sunrise but I think we had a taste of it somehow when we snaked out of Sagada. Higher above the clouds it's a breath taking view. There is no sun yet but cloud rising beneath (yes you read it right) the mountains is something you have to see in real life to appreciate. Everyone of us was just in awe. Two things we weren't able to do going down was eating breakfast and filling up gas. We suppose that there are lots of choices out there since we're not the only ones travelling, right? Well. Sort of. This station right here doesn't have rice meals but we were greeted by friendly dogs and chickens. We left without eating anything (except my youngest sister

The Cordillera Road Trip: EP15: Alapos Inn

Image
It was the only inn that would take us for reservation 2 months before Holy Week and I am more than glad in getting anything at all. A night for 4-5 people will cost you 1000 pesos. We got a double deck and a larger bed fit for four. Initially our reservation entitles us to 6 beds but we switched with the other group of guests (they have not come yet but the keeper told us about that while we have missed one guest, they added another so they needed more beds). There is also no private bath so you have to wait for others to finish before you can even shower. I took mine as soon as we went back after our tour but it took a while to actually bathe because all are taken. The shower is as simple as it will get, a toilet and a shower of death. It doesn't have any heater installed so basically you are bathing in ice. You can choose to not take a bath if you're such a winnie but I chose to since we planned to get out of Sagada very early in the morning so I can skip taking

Concerts: Slash: Welcome to the Jungle (of Giants) (4.4.2013)

Image
Quick background: I know Slash from GnR, only knows songs about the numbers of digits in my right hand, loved one Slash song which is just a bonus track (this is after listening to albums of his, I fell in love with Crazy Life) then nothing more,  BUUUUUT like some concerts I"ve been into I love going with my boyfriend yay! And would I pass an opportunity for him to be really happy?!! Before the day (or night, whatever man) I bought my videocam an extended battery. More often than not older guys have set lists that will make their fans happy and I wanted to be ready. But on the day of the venue, my vidcam wasn't allowed inside :-( It's really unfortunate and we can't do anything about it so we left it outside :-( * 1000 When we came in the to our actual doors, we were surprised that there are tons of people already!! Argh, I shouldn't have taken a pee! Beer abound, almost everyone is in black again and I'm in, well you guessed it, white again. Rock gods

COMS: Midnite Mercato: Burp! (04.28.2013)

Image
After IM3, we thought we'd finally do a midnight banchetto. After all, we're already up for food trip again (our Ihop trauma have somewhat subsided). The nearest is Midnite Mercato at BGC. When we arrived, there place isn't as crowded as expected although humidity is intense on the tents where they sell the food. Tip: Long hair? Bring a scrunchie for your own sake. We scouted around first, looking for the best food to order. Our first pick was burgers. I personally prefer burgers over pizza any day. It does look unkempt, and eating it is such a mess, but it was a very good choice for us. I loved the patty, the bread and peanut butter sauce. Reminds me of PB Co burgers , although to be fair I enjoyed this more because the patty is so meaty. The Yankee Burger (150 php) While Reagan waited for our burgers, I roamed around looking for water. Other than that I also noticed this weird looking concoction: Basil Seed with Honey (50 php a bottle)

COMS: IHOP: The Pancake Trauma

Image
There was no contender especially when staying at Seda, on where we plan to eat our overly delayed lunch (it's almost 4pm). We didn't have plan B and thought we give Ihop a try. We always heard how horrible the lines get and we are ready to move on to somewhere else. But when we arrived, a miracle happened and there were plenty of seats! We even get to choose a couch at the 2nd floor. Cool! There were plenty of dishes on the menu and it took a while for us to choose. I chose Rooty tooty: a small serving of pancake with choice of flavor (I had blueberry compote) plus sausage, scrambled egg and bacon. My bf had Newyork cheesecake for his pancake. He thought he had the same order as mine until we realized he is really only getting pancake. Good thing we also ordered chicken strips with fries! We are not aware that they have crepes, but seeing that Nutella Crepe is in the menu, we had that also. So it's true. The painful serving time is really awful. We

Hotel Reviews: Seda: At the Heart of BGC

Image
Found right in front of Serendra, Seda is a newly opened hotel that is at walking distance from everything you want to do: movies, park, shopping and the likes. It blends so much on the background that it took us a while to figure out where it is exactly. There are two entrances, the one fronting Serendra (which is closed at night) and the main entrance fronting the parking lot. The building only has a few floors (approx 15, I didn't notice haha) so there aren't much elevators, just 2. The receptionist I was on was friendly and wasn't hard to convince to change rooms. I was supposed to be on a twin deluxe but I won't need the other bed so I transferred, unfortunately to a smoking floor, but at least with just one bed. Sure enough the corridor did have hints of smoke and took a bit of getting used to. It didn't reach the room anyway (and we're near the elevators) so it wasn't that annoying. I loved the setup of the window which has an affixed

TIB: Kris Aquino for Governor (?)

Image
Wait what? That was probably the hardest line I've ever typed today. Kris Aquino for Tarlac Governor. Wait, I need water. Okay, here it goes. First of, I'm not from Tarlac so I couldn't care less, I mean, Cavite's my hometown for a long time already (though I rarely visit anymore) and (whispers) there's a lot of things needed to be fixed there too, but you know those big fires that started from a single candle light, a small firecracker, or, or!! A cigarette butt that more often than not, cause headline type of fires? Yeah. That's the best metaphor I can come up with. And I don't know about you but it's really scary. Philippine politics has been the longest soap opera we've been forced to deal with for our entire lives and here's a new cast who will totally be the icing of the cake, like in a bad way. I'm trying to be rational about this, like well, let's just try to forget the scandals for a moment here. Nope. Not possib

Let's take a breather and appreciate our new cute dog: Cola!

The Cordillera Road Trip: EP14: Church of Saint Mary the Virgin

Image
It's still early to retire for the day so we went to the Church of Saint Mary the Virgin. It's a good place to tone down the roughness of the caving earlier. We looked awfully muddy but thought that being a tourist is an excuse :-D Imagine the campfires here: While we were walking around, a couple of kids said we can pay them up so they can take us to the hanging coffins. What the hell??!! Why didn't anyone tell us that?! We hurriedly followed people who just went by. My father was joking that this was already it: But going further, other tourists attest to the said coffins, but with much caution. The walk was quite narrow and is in a ravine. By this time a lot of them are turning back, my sister hurried more. While I know we can make it there before night time, it's like as if nature wants to hold us back.  That's my sister and father shielding themselves from the huge downpour Since it has gone more dangerous now,

The Cordillera Road Trip: EP13: Lemon Pie House: A Construction Worker's Dream

Image
Our tour guide have already left us and we are late for lunch. We are so hungry that we don't really need to look for more choices as we head on to Lemon Pie House . Lunch goers have already found their way out of the restaurant so we still have to wait for them to cook rice. Initially we just want to eat lemon pies but seeing how their meal plates are so humungous, it made us drool more. From what my sister saw on tv, Drew said that he much rather prefer egg pie than lemon pie (both were served) so while my other sister and my father chose both lemon pies, me and my youngest sister ordered a lemon and an egg pie for us to share equally. Egg Pie  Lemon Pie Both are really good and the slightly sour taste of lemon pie is loveable too! Find the prices here below: I ordered Chicken Curry and at one look, it does look like chopseuy: For 130 pesos this is more than I could ever eat for lunch!!! The serving of the viand is too much that if you&
