ANSBR: Fully Satiated by Cloud Atlas

Image
You have no idea how far and wide I have searched for this book. It's been months at most. I did everything I can, ask each bookstore I've been, order online (they refunded me when they realized they don't have stock) and called numbers. It was only when my last attempt in time with our polymer workshop (Fullybooked @ BGC) was I able to buy myself a copy. As a book lover, I pick up books on how tempting the premise is. I love to read different styles of narration and this has intrigued me big time. Imagine reading a book separated in different eras with specific connections, end RIGHT at the middle of the book and closes each chapter that was left hanging on the remaining ones. It is an amazing style and I must have a copy. That plus I hate movie tie up book covers and learning about the existence of the movie made me excel all efforts in getting my hands on it. At first though, it took me a little while to settle in. The language of Ewing's journal is far ahead of my

SNAP: Deovir - Polymer Oasis (10.20.12)

My friend Meanne, who was with me on the Polymer workshop last month being the social butterfly she is, have in spite not having extensive experience, already have orders from her bunch of friends. It is amazing how this happened to her and I'm totally happy for her, but first, we need to find raw materials for it. Someone gave her a tip that polymers are available at Sto.Cristo St somewhere in Divisoria. We got to so many places, bought silly little things: ribbons and the like but not a single polymer in site. We finally gave up and decided for Deovir instead. We have no idea where the place is and I was too busy to have forgotten to reasearch on how to get there. We have actually ended up walking up to Quiapo church and asking the only guy who knew the place. How ironic that the only knowledgeable guy took us that far to have asked, the rest of them were just oblivious, hell I don't think they even have an idea what polymer or craft is :-( So anyway, for the sake of you dea

Concert: This Boy: James Morrison (10.9.2012)

Listening to his albums, it is hard to find a single song I do not like. But it wasn't until my officemates were going that I decided that we (me and Reagan) will go as well. As usual, I'm pushing my luck on this one since he basically have not heard much about the guy before I mentioned. We arrived there almost at the exact time (I don't get stressed too much about being there past 8 unlike before) but still managed to buy food. When we went in, Moonstar 88 was already playing. i have no idea they'd be on because as far as my research went, their name never came up. Probably a last minute decision. When their time is up, we were all ears as to what they'd be singing first. How do you know? It's one of my favorites: Beautiful Life. I would have uploaded the video I took by phone (omg, I never thought that my phone has amazing sound recording capability!!) but I'd rather not everyone hear me screaming: "Be, paborito ko yan!!"; too embarassing.

Buffet Roundup: Vikings, Yakimix, Cabalen

Image
Vikings (MOA) By far the most extensive buffet I've ever been in, this is also my most favorite. They offer a wide variety of dishes that are varied be it in drinks (they have overflowing beer) appetizer, soups, main course and dessert. And they have the ambiance to boost as well. they do have plenty of patrons but for some reason, the place does not feel too crowdy. They also have enough staff to change you plates even by request (when you can't finish it anymore) or simply when the plate looked used. Likes: Yogurt (you serve your own via machine) Crepe (ask for both chocolate and caramel when they make it) Sausages on stick Sushi Chawan mushi (much better than when we had it at Sakae) Dislikes : Tempura (too much batter, shrimp nowhere to be found) Nachos (a bit bland) Shrimps (no, not because of taste BUT the long wait for refill) Price is 888 for weekdays 1088 for weekends. Can't wait to get back! (which is around next next week haha) Yakimix (MOA) I have always heard

Smashbook Project: Tip Bag Collection #1

1. To better keep track of my stickers/stick on embellishments, I assemble them all in a clear acetate then put them on a clear folder. This way, I could easily find which sticker I can use and be able to sort them by theme. This direct approach would only work for stickers that use double sided mounting tapes though. For other stickers you may keep them in their pad then stick that on to the acetate. 2. Recycle paper products, you will never know when to use them. Since I am making my smashbook from scratch, and the sad reality that the Philippines has not much scrapbook/smashbook/junk journal resources available, I am forced to reuse paper packaging when I think so fit. I do order online and buy like crazy from stores available but there is also a benefit for this, since I won't be paying extra, and I get free templates too! I actually used a cereal box for the cover of my smashbook and I was never disappointed with it because it is of the right thicknes and best of all it is fre

KD Collage (Andriod, Limited)

While we become more and more mobile, our need for apps is more important (in a sense, just don't put it out of context) than ever. One of my most used app is the creation of collage which I could not put off waiting to go home and make one. Interface is easy to use and have enough free templates for you to work on. It also allows you to resize and move your photos with simple finger gestures help is not even necessary. I have not yet found the same features of this app for this free in Ipad and for me, probably my most loved collage app ever. Below is a sample creation: Note: Photo was edited later on with Cymera

Cymera (Android, Free)

My favorite photo app, this has absolutely everything I could ask for in a photo editing app. I love the fact that it is free, and has some features that some photo apps don't. Editing a photo I have not taken from their app is one of the reasons I enjoy using this because I can always change the effect whatever is my fancy. If however, you use this app for taking photos, it keeps the original photo + the one with that effect you have chosen beforehand, none of that in other apps. I love this feature too because I would at least have the freedom to choose the best effect later on. They also have quick frame collages which has a timer that allows you to take a sequence of photos like as if you are in a photo booth. Their beauty feature also works as a charm, I have already used it to recognize my face and slim it! Below is a good example of their filter: Note: Collage was created through KD Collage because I was secretly taking a photo of my friend in random

Baluarte ni Singson (4.7.2012)

Image
A short ride from Vigan Heritage Village lies a wide hectare of land known as the Baluarte. We have not seen that many signs along the way but it's not hard to ask for directions on where it is. When we arrived, what will greet you is a long line of cars on the parking. Next to that is a provision for kiosks of food and souvenirs, then a chapel, then the zoo. From the entrance, it suddenly felt like emerging from a long swim, where all the sounds and smells overwhelm you in a rush. (What's ironic is that I don't swim at all :-D. My knowledge is from TV that's why) I haven't been in a zoo for a very long time so I totally forgot how different animals fitted to one place smells like. It's not the best smell in the world and it's beginning to help raise my bushy eyebrows. It's like as if every barn smell is right at the edge of my nose. Also to notice other than the huge crowd of people is the small number of animals. Like really. There are a lot of cages t

TME: Verify your Voter's Registration the easy way

1. Go to COMELEC's website via this link. 2. On the left side panel, click on the photo that has a magnifying glass on it 3. On the next page you will find a disclaimer of sorts. Click the button that says Precinct Finder Form 4. Now this part is quite problematic. It's fine that my name + birthday is unique enough that I didn't encounter any problems with my search. I do hope that they have a facility for Advanced Search for those that have issues with same names :-( 5. The results are straightforward, they give you the precinct and even the map where you are registered. Love it. Well it is extremely easy to use, and precisely to the point. It's a shock to know that I am indeed registered, I always thought that my form was not sent by this "Kagawad" and used it for his own. I am glad to know that no one have used my account to vote for anyone I don't like. What's so weird is how it go that far, I mean, my family is registered to precincts that is wit

SNAP: Polymer Clay Workshop at Provenance Designs and Crafts

Image
Yesterday, my friend and I attended a workshop at FullyBooked at BGC. I have always loved dealing with crafty stuff (scrapbook obviously) and this is the first time I have tried a polymer medium. I don't know why I suddenly was interested, but what I did weeks before was to send out emails to polymer shops and inquire for their next workshops. The first one to have replied was Provenance Designs and Crafts. There was another one who did reply but she was too late because I have already paid the initial deposit. The workshop was held at the 4th floor of Fullybooked, which is just right for the small group of attendees. There is the Basic, Advanced and Repeat workshops. You can choose if you just want the Basic or you can have both Basic and Advanced. The Repeat workshop (I think this is not what it's called even) are far more advanced than what we were doing and seeing them makes me want to aspire that level too. Anyway, they usually just show you how the most basic design is do
