Old Penang House (2.11.12)

The partner is not feeling well so I suggested we go somewhere he can eat something spicy to make him feel warm. There are still plenty of restaurants in RW we haven't cleared yet and one of them has to be this which is rare to find elsewhere. I ordered Nasi Lemak Special (245) and he got the Famous Penang Prawn Noodle (220). I know, I know, my choice is truly safe, but I'm afraid that my stomach may react exaggerately with really spicy food. He also got himself milk tea which looked like coffee with too much cream. Tasty though. Even though a chili icon was beside the name of my Nasi Lemak, it wasn't that spicy at all so anyone can practically survive it. The beef is tender and the addition of cucumber and spicy dilis is probably there just to compensate for the price. The Prawn Noodle tasted different, because I've never tried anything like it. Imagine a spicy soup of prawns fused with peanuts. I love peanut dishes myself (kare-kare, satay) and this is something new t

TME: Mind Museum, the Soft Opening (2.11.12)

I think I've posted in Twitter way back how I donated to light up a star in the Mind Museum, one for me and one for my bf. Mars would have been awesome but it's just too steep but anyway, it's a ticket for an invite for the soft opening (1 of 3 days I think). A donor, no matter how huge the donation was gets a free pass (or so I believe) and a plus one costs 600 php each. We got the Saturday 3pm schedule which is I think is the perfect time to go since we could never be late. We've never been to that particular area it was in so (see below for the map) it took us a while before we reached the place from RW. When we finally arrived, there are already a handful of people, mostly groups of families. You will be first greeted by Aedi, a robot which probably looks just like one but is not a real AI. A fellow visitor, a father who was next to me tried to ask Aedi a question but the usher butted in. I never got what she said because we were slowly walking away then

Food Adventures the Sequel (1.28.12)

Too tired of scanning the passport hehe :-D Nothing exciting January brought us so we gave in to the call of Food Adventures yet again. My bf was on a month long diet and he’s hungry for cholesterol rich foods as a reward so we thought that we would give the food adventure a second try. Last year they offered 2 sets of adventures, one was the Extreme Food Adventure that let’s you eat street food and the normal Food Adventure which I’ve covered here and here . This year they’ve eliminated the first one I’ve mentioned; organizers must have realized that Mckinley residents aren’t into nibbling chicken feet. One of the key advantages of dining with someone is that whenever a participating restaurant offers you 2 choices, you can order both without stressing on what to get if you’re on your own. For instance, one of the best restaurant experiences last year and still a participant is Kuse , which is a sister restaurant of Old Vine Grill . both offering 2 choices each, making us enjoy 4 meal
