Ok. So this was a cheap one. I never would have bought this if it was any pricier. This was the only budget I have this time so I purchased it anyway, hoping to find more books to read someday while I can’t still afford completing all the books I ought to own copies of.

It may have been the title or how I related it to Good Omens (I wish to own a copy of) to a teeny extent, or the part in the front where it said ‘...guaranteed to warm your heart and make you feel good’ part why I even considered it but it was enough to catch my attention. But if I had just noticed that one on the top ‘If you’ve ever had a broken heart’ part, haha. Nope. I would have never.

First parts of it I honestly liked till the part when the author came to the part of God, or Joe as he was named in human form in the book when I felt uneasy and thought of not going any further. You see I am quite convinced with what I’ve been learning from Church from all the Sundays I’ve ever attented and I was offended with how the writer wrote ‘God’ here, it was like He was just some enlightened person but with twisted view points I tend to discard from my head.

Take the part of that ‘Perfect’ thing. The ‘God’ here says ‘...but no one is perfect. Perfect is just an illusion, a way of making you aim higher’. I paused. My mind alarmed, I raised an eyebrow and was about to rush to the pc and write a review at that instant. What the?! That is preposterous! Of course no one is perfect NOW because the world teaches us that no one can be perfect! Have she any read the Bible? There are like too many mentioned in the Book of Luke alone! And ‘God’ just said that?

And then there was the commandments. This book created some sort of a being who needed to come down to earth and create customized commandments for everyone. Another, ‘What the’ reaction. Haven’t the writer noticed that the commandments, both the Ten Commandments from the Old Testament to the compressed version of the New Testament are all in loving people around us? That it does fit everyone, it’s just that we have too many alibis, too many absurd reasons why we can’t follow it? And the commandments that was given to the character Christine (wow. Weird to read my name in a different version) wasn’t commandments at all, it was more of a self preserving, rehabilititating lessons for someone as broken hearted as she.

I do sound very partial about this. But to some extent I felt like I have this feeling that must have been what most Christians must have felt when they read the ‘Da Vinci Code’. Speaking of the book, I didn’t have any issues with it, I have enjoyed it and was disappointed that it haven’t really shaken my faith as it said it would. I took it largely as fiction, and that is what it is so I didn’t have any issue with it. I still believed in Christ as I’ve learned in church after reading the Da Vinci, but this. This is so outrageous this should have called the attention of everyone worldwide.

I know for most moments of what she just did I knew very well of, but those are the things that I’ve learned for the past years that I knew I learned with His guidance. But I never took those things as commandments, but as a way of living a good life here on earth, and as I say it, my ‘Positivity Campaign’ I’ve been striving to work on for the past 2 years (this is the 3rd year). I might have given this full five stars but I do have a problem with how ‘God’ was written here. I know I’m being biased with that but this is the same feeling I would have issues with, let’s say a wrong date, or a presumption of some historical fact or what I (think I) know. A great example would be 10000 BC where I was having problems with the existence of sabertoothed tigers and deers together in the same era, where the deers looked like the ones we have now. In conclusion, I would have made this one of my favorite books, but the ‘God’ who graced the pages aren’t what I know the Bible have told me. I guess if she used a different entity I would have loved it. Or better yet, she (writer) should be reading her Bible more times. Maybe she’d know what she’s talking about.
